Honor your father and mother so that you'll live a long time in the land that God, your God, is giving you. Exodus 20:12 NLT
As we just celebrated our moms, I noticed that this scripture begins with honoring the father first. Interesting!! We should honor God first as he is our Heavenly Father and our earthly fathers are next in line. This is listed as one of the ten commandments. Honor means to show respect in word and action. What if my parents were not good parents? The responsibility of honor is your commandment that God has given to you. There is a blessing when we obey God's commandment.
